ICU transcoder on Mac OS X

Hi, I'm currently using the Mac native Unicode transcoder on Mac OS X. 
Is there an easy way to adapt xerces to use ICU instead? If I try to use 
the command line make file I get an error stating that the ICU library 
was not found.

I'm not sure how to fix the error my self. I can see the library in 
/usr/lib but I can't find any matching header files.

Also, has any one tried using wchar_t as the default character 
definition on the Mac?
