Edwin, I suggest you escalate this bug from wishlist to some higher level. The current implementation is neither consistent with the documentation (as pointed out by David) nor with users expectations of a CRM system (as explained by Ivan).

To recreate issue. 1) open an existing lead 2) click on the phone call link 3) enter phone call information - making sure opportunity field is populated 4) save the phone call 5) navigate back to the lead record and look in communication history - no entry for the phone call is made.
