When I first visited Andorra in 1961, trout from the Valira river was
being offered by most of the hotels on their menus as a traditional
Andorran dish. A trout farm was established near Les Escaldes in the
early 1960s to meet the demand. Trout fishing remains a popular sport
and the rivers and lakes are re-stocked with fish at the start of each
season. I have figures for the number of fish released for the 1999
season and the prices for fishing permits if anyone is interested.
