Matt Keenan wrote a blog entry a few days ago that ought to help with a lot of your questions: http://blogs.sun.com/mattman/entry/iso_creation_with_distro_constructor Dave P.S. pkginfo works with IPS packages because the legacy action creates stub entries that pkginfo can consume, but otherwise the SVR4 tools can't do anything with the installed OpenSolaris packages.
