Stability wise, it's stable enough for the Ubuntu guys to leave it on by default in Gutsy. And device wise, both INtel and Nvidia are covered (with ATI coming in soon). That leaves a large part of the audience covered. It makes sense to include it in the first release as it's not more than 5 mb big (from erwann's packages) and adds a lot of eye candy that users love to see. ~Anil
