The problem appears to occur on systems where the display's DPI is incorrectly detected - check the Preferences -> Appearance -> Fonts -> Details and if it shows up as something stupid, like 120, that's the problem. I believe there's a bug filed against this somewhere, since it's been seen in base Nevada, but I don't know the number offhand.
