You are right - looking at the virtual console project and how the functionality is delivered, it is part of core system and is delivered by SUNWcs package: http://opensolaris.org/os/project/vconsole/ So the functionality is currently present in AI image, but not activated - appropriate SMF services are disabled. I have verified that once they are enabled, virtual consoles started to work in AI image. Jan
