Hi,

I used to see similar message:
$ /usr/lib/pkg.depotd -d /tmp/repo -p 9999
pkg.depotd: unable to bind to the specified port: 9999. Reason: Cannot 
assign requested address

I'd try checking /etc/nodename and /etc/hosts
(adding `hostname` to 127.0.0.1 address helped with the above).
