Hi everyone. Here's where we are w.r.t. bugs, our priority list (sent to caiman-discuss on 9/5/08), and the 2008.11 release:
* "Must haves" which remain * - Finalizer scripts stop on error when stop_on_error flag set from manifest 3341 <http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=3341> nor P2 karen.tung at sun.com FIXINP stop_on_error doesn't seem to work for finalizer scripts - Logging of output and errors from DC proper and finalizer scripts. 3354 <http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=3354> 2008.11 min P2 karen.tung at sun.com FIXINP Logging of the DC app - Stop manifest server when DC terminates so /tmp/ManifestServ.$$ socket gets cleaned up. 3356 <http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=3356> 2008.11 nor P2 jack.a.schwartz at sun.com FIXINP ManifestServ need to be stopped and it's socket file cleaned up - Cleanup repo mirroring items in manifest as IPS does implicit mirroring of its authorities. 3358 <http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=3358> 2008.11 nor P2 jean.mccormack at sun.com FIXINP Cleanup repo mirroring items in manifest * " Good to haves" which remain * 1) Implement a pkg_image_area_population authority separate from default authority. 3360 <http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=3360> 2008.11 nor P3 jean.mccormack at sun.com CAUSEK Allowing specifying the default repo and default authority installing pkgs 2) Allow ISO and USB image name specification in manifest. Will postpone. 3) Use timestamp default in manifest for dist ID. From the dist ID, the ISO name, USB name, pkg_image_area and output_paths are derived. (Already present. No bug filed.) ---- Some new items which are deemed important and will be fixed very soon have made it onto the buglist as well. As stated earlier, they have a target milestone of 2008.11 and a priority of P1-P3. Among these are: - grub entries in the manifest - different interpretations of empty strings in the manifest (as legitimate values, as blanks requiring defaults, or as errors) - Better error handling and return statuses from DC - removal of slim_install package metadata from a distro - Improvements or fixes regarding pkg metadata or utiltity use - Using lzma to compress non-usr archives At our DC meeting tomorrow we will forgo a full-on bug-court, since this email should address the same issues. We'll limit our bug scrutiny tomorrow to any new un-targetted bugs for assignment, unless someone has a reason to go through the list in more detail. Thanks Jack
