I am fixing bug 7191, which deals with the pkg.zlib running out of space
when people are creating their own image with more packages than
what the Live CD has.

Currently, pkg.zlib is a UFS archive, and we estimate the size needed
for this archive using "du -sk", and then, add 10% of overhead to
this value. Apparently, 10% overhead is not enough, and we had
just been lucky so far that it worked. Sanjay and I did some experiement
and found that probably 20% is better. While I can make the change
to put 20% there to get rid of the problem, I think a better fix is
to get rid of the pkg.zlib altogether. We introduced pkg.zlib
as a fix for bug 2716 to get around the problem with symlinks
that are too long. Now that the real cause of the bad symlinks is going to
be fixed (6807009) in snv_111, I think it is best to get rid of pkg.zlib.

The question is, is this better to do for 2009.06 or the next release?

Thanks,
