This is already covered, and documented quite well on
http://docs.sun.com. For ZFS it's a matter of

zpool import -f ....

for SVM it's a matter of mounting the underlying ufs
filesystem. Well, for mirrored devices at any rate.

+1 for wget (and I reckon we should have wget in /usr/bin
anyway).

pax is already there as /usr/bin/pax

top ... have you heard about this great little utility
called "prstat" ?

what does vim offer you in a safemode environment that
/usr/bin/vi does not?
