I think the section you would be most interested in in 5.1.3, which
talks about data retrieval.

Semantic validation is not part of this particular functional spec.
However, hooks are in the parser so that a semantic validator can use it.

No. I meant validation using the schema. That said, the validation of
the schema itself is done before the schema is used to validate a
manifest. The two are done together.

Right. I've changed the order to be just this, in the use cases.
