Actually lofs(7FS) doesn't support compression. lofi(7D) does
and that's used to compress the live images. The microroot
is compressed with the gzip utility (currently).

lofi(7D) supports gzip as a compression algorithm. As more
algorithms become available in OpenSolaris, it can be
extended to support them too if desired.
