The requirements of a RAM based filesystem are so low that trying to retro-fit an enterprise storage solution for this purpose is IMHO a low- reward high-effort approach. A highly stripped down UFS or even a critical bug-free PCFS is perfectly adequate for this. In addition it should be possible to add compression to the ramdisk module in the style of compressed lofi with per-segment copy-on-write.
