No matter what I tried, I can't install OpenSolaris on a brand new Ultra 27.

From the 2009.06 CD I got this:

The installation log contains this failure:

<ICT Dec 17 05:20:53> current task:bootadm_update_menu
<ICT Dec 17 05:20:53> update GRUB boot menu on device /dev/rdsk/c7t1d0s0

/dev/rdsk/c7t1d0s0 2>&1) returned status 256
<ICT_E Dec 17 05:20:53> Adding failsafe menu with command: bootadm update-menu
-R /a -Z -o /dev/rdsk/c7t1d0s0 2>&1 failed. exit status=256

grubsign for root: /a, device /dev/rdsk/c7t1d0s0
<ICT_E Dec 17 05:20:53> Failure. Returning: ICT_ADD_FAILSAFE_MENU_FAILED

Yet if I manually do a fstyp -a on /dev/rdsk/c7t1d0s0, it works just
fine.

I got the suggestion to try build 130 directly,
(http://nana.eng/products/osol_dev/130/osol-dev-130-x86.iso) and it too fails
but isn't as verbose as to why, though it looks as if it's exactly the same:

<ICT Jan 9 03:30:30> current task:set_boot_active
<ICT Jan 9 03:30:30> current task:bootadm_update_menu
<ICT Jan 9 03:30:30> update GRUB boot menu on device /dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s0
<ICT Jan 9 03:30:30> shell cmd (bootadm update-menu -R /a -Z -o
/dev/rdsk/c2t1d0s0 2>&1) returned status 256
<OM Jan 9 03:30:30> The install-finish script reported failures.
<OM Jan 9 03:30:30> The install finish script reported failures.

Any idea what is going wrong, or will I have to install Nevada?
