Sundar, Jack,
I have tried both x86 & Sparc versions of 106a AI image pulled
from sources below (available only internally) and both worked for me.
I didn't use backpublished SUNWinstalladm-tools package, but I used
the one directly built from slim_source gate.
For x86, I have installed Ultra 20 (1GB RWM, allocated enough
disk space in order to make sure that swap is created).
For Sparc, installation was done on T1000 (8GB RWM).
Installation was done from local IPS repositories created as full
mirrors from ipkg.sfbay:29047 (106 x86) and ipkg.sfbay:29051 (106 Sparc).
NOTE: Repositories are available only internally.
The only thing I have noticed after the installation is that warning
is generated during first boot when SMF manifests are being
imported - the behavior is the same for x86 as well as Sparc:
Boot device: /pci at 7c0/pci at 0/pci at 8/scsi at 2/disk at 0,0:a File and
args:

I assume that this is not bug in AI, but I haven't tried with LiveCD image
in order to verify that the behavior is the same.
Other than that, the installation was successful.
I have updated 6286 & 6291 with the observations.
