I am working on a project where I intend to provision many OpenSolaris
machines using the AI and would like to be able to operate in an offline
mode. Logically I would say I need a "mirror" of the
pkg.opensolaris.org repository. Ideally the "mirror" would be
completely independent of the pkg.opensolaris.org repository and I could
manually execute a synchronization command. With a model such as this I
can keep all of the OpenSolaris provisioned nodes "up-to-date" with my
mirror without having to worry about unintended package updates.
In the near term I minimally need to have the binaries cached locally
as even deploying 5 machines simultaneously will saturate my connection
to the internet to the point were it would take a couple of hours to do
the install. So I have the following questions about my situation:

1) Will there be functionality in the IPS repo to support my scenario?
2) What would be the best way to address my short term goals?
3) Should I look at a combination of AI and Distribution Constructor?

Thanks,
Cameron Brunner
