[fixed link to webrev] The timezone is saved in /etc/default/init. It is currently not writable on SPARC, so the timezone cannot be saved and the install fails.
If /etc/default/init is marked 'do not compress' in ai_sparc_image.xml, it can then be written to. Adding: <base_include type="file" fiocompress="false">etc/default/init</base_include> http://defect.opensolaris.org/bz/show_bug.cgi?id=6682 http://cr.opensolaris.org/~wmsch/bug-6682/
