- Section 5.1:
* Do we really need this checkpoint? My understanding is that
the sys config project will have a checkpoint that generate many of
the values configured
here as SMF properties which will get consumed at the first boot by
SMF services that will set up the stuff. Among all the things
configured
here, I know that all the user related stuff, and the hostname will
be configured
using SMF services. That only left "lang_locale" and "loc_grubmenu".
I think lang_locale will be configured by SMF too, but not sure.
"loc_grubmenu" probably belong in the BootConfiguration checkpoint,
since
that's related to booting.
I wasn't sure, so I included it for the time being. I'll make sure to
get feedback from that team and determine if I can eliminate it.
Karen is right that most of those tasks will be taken care of by various
smf services:
_configure_user_directory
_set_user_profile
_create_new_user
_set_homedir_map
_set_root_password
_setup_rbac
_setup_sudo
svc:/system/install/config smf service already takes care of those tasks
for AI.
Related changes for Text installer are currently in review along with
SCI tool.
WRT GUI installer, the plan is that switch to the new System
Configuration will
be done as part of GUI->CUD project. I might recommend to check with Dermot
about the latest plan.
Once it happens, those ICT tasks could be removed.
_set_nodename
_set_host
Those two tasks will be no longer needed and will disappear once CR6996436
is addressed.
_add_sysidtool_sys_unconfig
All that ICT task currently does is running sysidpm(1m) during first
boot. sysidpm
is to be EOLed and we can get rid of that task once we clarify with
David Brown
how post-install configuration of power management should look like.
_set_lang_locale
This one is to be removed as well, since locale configuration will be
also done
via smf properties. Support for configuring locale/timezone via smf
properties is
currently work in progress (ETA ~ 162).
