I like this a lot better. Getting rid of the timer is a big improvement.

But how does it work when the entries have a space?
I picked Americas, then 's', then 't', and wanted to pick St Lucia,
 but got stuck.

Because I didn't add curses.SPACE to the keymap :) I'll add that.

And on the time zone screen for US, why aren't the entries
alphabetical (e.g., Alaska Time is after Pacific Time)

This is due to how we're getting the timezones from the timezone
database. If you want fun, take a look at Americas -> Argentina.

I've brought this up with Ginnie and we're going to look into it to see
if we can fix it or make it better.

Also, a small nit (and I don't really care) but there's no way to
spell your way back to UTC/GMT if you're on a different entry.

Because UTC/GMT is artificially added. I need to add that entry to the
spelling dictionary.

 Version 5!

I talked with Steve Wolf about which direction to go based on
 everybody's feedback on version 4
(Thank you for those of you that emailed me / told me what you
 thought.) Based on people's feedback
AND based on the behavior of the s10u10 text-installer, I've dumped
 the 'first-letter' jump and the
timer behavior. We're down to supporting spelling only with backspace
or any arrow key resetting the
 spelling dictionary.

I think this is pretty intuitive and there's no real need for adding
 complicated UI components like
tracking the word as it's being spelled in some kind of UI widget -
we're very tight on space in
sysconfig/TI and adding another window would clutter things.

I've also fixed the random ScrollWindow traceback when you quit from
a screen who has more entries
 than can be shown.

Please try this out (directions below) and let me know what you think!

 Good afternoon!

I'd like to get some discussion (and a possible code review) for the
 following CR:

 7161344<http://monaco.us.oracle.com/detail.jsf?cr=7161344>
 ScrollWindows should support letter
 jumping

 https://cr.opensolaris.org/action/browse/caiman/drewfish/CR_7161344/webrev/

This fix adds the ability for ScrollWindows to *optionally* allow
 the author to enable "first
letter" jumping. I made this optional because users may not want
 letter jumping for short scroll
windows. Before going any further, I wanted to see if folks had
issues or concerns with this approach.

If you'd like to try this out do the following:

 export

PYTHONPATH=/net/mox.us.oracle.com/tank/code/cr_7161344/proto/root_i386-nd/usr/lib/python2.6/vendor-packages

 sudo sysconfig create-profile
(don't worry, you're not going to reconfigure your system)
Proceed through the screens until you get to the timezone screen and
 try the letter jumping.

Once done, simply hit F9 to exit (when you do this, you'll hit
 another bug with ScrollWindows -
 it's 7160551 but don't worry about it)

Let me know if you have questions! I'd like to get this in the gate
so Seth stops sending me angry
 email. :)
