Another workaround is to disable BIOS console redirection after POST
and use GRUB's native serial port console functionality -- you will
not get the black-on-black escape sequence. To do this, first in
Solaris, use bootadm to change the boot loader's console type:
bootadm set-menu console=serial
(the default port is 0 (ttya)).
Then reboot and enter BIOS setup and change the redirection setting.
When GRUB displays its menu on your serial console, you'll know you
got it right. Proceed to booting and verify there is no more
black-on-black.
I'll try this, however, I'm not sure what effect this will have on
linux and Windows

All,
When I connect to a system using the /SP/console on solaris11, at
some point I get black text on a black background. It just happens
after the grub menu.
I captured the output of that part, and it seems that after the
selection of the menu-entry in grub the setting is indeed black on
black ....

Well, it's actually:
Faint (2)
text color black (30)
background color black (40)
So, if possible, take out the ^[[2;30;40m
and probably put in ^[c (ESC c) or a ^[[0m (ESC [0m)
I can't believe grub is compiled with ncurses, so it will work on
other weird terminals, it's just plain ANSI, right ?
Thanks
