let me know if the OBP update makes any difference. As far as I can
see there are no wanboot CRs between Firmware 8.2.0.a and 8.2.0.f.

I should have added that moving to this update of system firmware made a
huge difference. The downloads speeds are what one would expect. I
have installed 2 ldoms without an problems. The fix in the firmware may
be vnic related.
