IIUC: the first time you start with Compiz, composite is ON and checked. then you start with Metacity and composite is not tested.
OK for testing it every time. ** Changed in: cairo-dock-core Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: cairo-dock-core Importance: Undecided => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Cairo- Dock Team, which is subscribed to Cairo-Dock Core. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069472 Title: Cairo-dock doesn't check for missing composite manager when starting next time :( Status in Cairo-Dock : Core: Triaged Bug description: Cairo-dock 3.1 displays a nice tip about missing composite manager, but only on first start: "To remove the black rectangle around the dock, you need to activate a composite manager." "Do you want to activate it now?" (see attached screenshot) This is enough if user uses only one desktop environment/computer, but I miss this tip when user uses the same Home folder with different desktop environments/computers. I'm wanna create universal LiveUSB (with persistence) with mixed Desktop environment: GNOME3 shell with Cairo-Dock and fallback to GNOME3 Classic with Metacity and Cairo-Dock. It would be very nice if Cairo-dock would check for missing compozite manager when starting every time (please, at least make a setting for this option).
