I used the following code in "StudentAttendances" controller:
$students = $this ->StudentAttendance->Student-> find('all', array(
'conditions' => array(
'NOT' => array('StudentAttendance.date' => array($year.'-'.$month.'-'.$day))
),
'fields' => array('Student.id', 'Student.name'),
'order' => 'Student.name ASC'
));
