You would use GD library with Cake just as you would any other PHP 
application. Run phpinfo() to see if GD support is enabled. If it is you're 
good to go and there's nothing more to do, if not you'll need to download 
and install it to your PHP/Apache server environment. I believe on Windows 
systems you need to uncomment extension=php_gd2.dll in your php.ini and 
Linux distributions it can be installed using the package manager. You'll 
have to re-compile PHP after install for changes to take effect.
