My "old skool" is your "why doesn't it work the way I expect.
*shrugs*.  There's an old saying about what happens when you assume
things.  For the sake of language I won't finish the joke.

I figure the caching rules state if its done by the user (i.e via the
browser) then we will cache the controller.  If not, no caching.  You
obviously have to draw the line somewhere.

Again, if I'm wrong I'm confident someone will correct me.
