This disappears when reverting back past r4719 - which makes sense, because r4719 refactors session flash stuff and I have customized that area ( to give me $controller->flashWarning, flashError, flashInfo etc with multiple messages).
I'm still unable to replicate the actual trigger (I'm able to use my custom flashError OK most of the time), so it's probably time for me to refactor my code...
