I have a strange problem with automagic datetime 'created' field. It doesn't update itself. I found a ticket about similar behavior (https://trac.cakephp.org/ticket/2390) but in my case automagic works fine for 'updated' field...
Solution from the ticket also fixes my problem but it requires hacking Cake core (model.php).
