Thanks for your answer Adam Looking at swfupload's debug info it seems that after uploading the file swfupload is redirected to the login action. I've tried your tutorial on swfupload and sessions from http://blogs.bigfish.tv/adam/2008/04/01/cakephp-12-sessions-and-swfupload/ but i causes my browser to crash when i do it like that, both in firefox and ie7
