On ubuntu is quite simple
install php and apache quite easy
apt-get install libapache2-mod-php5
then you can create an database with firebird

then you should follow the tutorial , please check the comments where
i explain howto configure it for firebird

ps: i wrote an tutorial for firebird2.1 and nginx webserver
but if you need it can be used for apache too / just unpack cake zip
