I agree, that behaviour is very irritating. Unfortunately I can't tell you if it is code or server related, your domains have different IP Addresses, but the same nameservers so the sites are likely to be on the same shared server (along with over 8,700 others!).
I'm not sure if CakePHP would do this though, especially if you're using the same core version.
