The point of putting this inside a loop was to increment $i some
arbitrary number of times. IOW, the code should do the right thing, no
matter how many inputs are created. Basic stuff. Just what you want,
no? Unless the original developer was up to something really strange.

Anyway, why does the one version use a checkbox but the other ("I
need") a text input, and with a completely different name? Could you
describe the models and associations involved? And what you're trying
to do?
