Crockpot Steamed Molasses Bread 2 cup cereal, all bran 2 cup flour, whole wheat 2 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup raisins add dashes of cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg 1 egg 1 3/4 cup sour milk or 1 3/4 cup buttermilk 1/2 cup molasses, dark In a medium bowl, combine bran, flour, baking powder, salt,spices, baking soda and raisins. In another bowl, combine milk, egg and molassses. Blend into dry ingredients. Do not overbeat. Pour into greased and floured 8-cup mold or can. Cover with foil and tie. Place on rack in slow cooker and pour 2 cups hot water around can. Cover pot and cook on high for 3 to 4 hours. Turn bread out on cooling rack and serve warm or cool. Yields 8 servings.
