Applesauce Cake With Caramel Icing 2 cups sugar 1 cup butter 4 eggs 1-1/2 cups applesauce 1 tsp. Baking soda 1 tsp. Cloves 2 tsp. Cinnamon 2 tsp. Nutmeg 3 cups sifted flour 1 tsp. Salt 1 cup raisins Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, beat well.
Add applesauce and soda. Sift dry ingredients together and add to creamed mixture. Add the raisins. Bake at 325 in a greased and floured tube pan for 1 hour or until done. Can be baked in two 9-inch pans at 350 for 30-40 minutes. NEVER-FAIL CARAMEL ICING: 1 cup butter 3 cups brown sugar 6 Tbs. Milk 1 tsp. Baking soda Combine butter, brown sugar, and milk.
