After some initial research, I decided to go with radicale because it was the simplest of the options. No need to run another web server process w/ PHP and an SQL database. Installation was easy and for my rusty server admin skills I managed to get things up and running in an afternoon. macOS/iOS/iPadOS clients seem to generate a bunch of authentication/authorization errors but they still work. Hopefully won’t take too much work to figure out a workaround at least. But I digress - my issue has been logged in GitHub. :) I want to thank everyone who worked on the Darwin CalenderServer project over the years for offering a free and relatively easy solution for a long time. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and I learned a bunch from dabbling with it! -- Julian Y.
