Android unable to download from subdomains with underscores

When trying to download an image from out dev server I kept getting error 3.
The url of our dev server contained an underscore "nvm_dev", as soon as the
underscore was removed from the subdomain the app could download the files.
This might only be related to android as the plugin uses native download
actions.
