Sorry, can't test right now  due to lack of iPhone...

While your code may trigger an error as you state, if pretty sure that's not 
same issue I have.
I import my phonenumbers with regular json supported by jquery, so they should 
already be strings?

Same code works on some devices but not all. What all non working phones got in 
common is a sync with Exchange, if you turn that off and try to import all 
works fine.

Have you had time to test contact-api with a phone that got exchange sync for 
your contacts?
