Filip Maj commented on CB-888:
------------------------------
There are a lot of questions to answer for this issue. Off the top of my head:
- what about declarative app data like author, title, description? Does the use
of config.xml tie into the command line tooling, to specify this kind of
top-level app information at the time of project creation?
- how do we tie in <feature> elements to phonegap core APIs, or more generally,
to arbitrary plugins?
- splash screen and icons are part of config.xml.. do we want to support that
right out of the gate? some platforms employ a splash screen plugin to do this.
Does this mean all config.xml's will need to add a <feature> element to enable
access to the splash screen plugin?
Lots of these questions have already been answered by phonegap-build. Lots of
prior work there.
I think a wiki page is in order to map out what features that config.xml offers
are already available in cordova and how it relates to config.xml. This way we
can separate out the low-hanging fruit as easy tasks, and link up other issues
to features that are not yet available (plugin spec + installation, full
command-line tooling, etc).
