For now create is doing nothing and it seems wasteful to round trip to the
platform for no action. I can see there are certainly reasons for having a
create or prepare api (iOS had a prepare api but it was removed for consistency
with other platforms). There has been talk of reworking the media api -
perhaps this should be rolled into a ticket for that? However, create was
introduced in the unified JS conversion and it not a public api ATM.
