I like the dance; I'm always partial to lost-and-found dances. As an
occasional caller, I've had little success calling give and take dances. The
give and take moves people away from being across from another couple and into
a kind of zigzag formation. Newcomers and dancers with poor awareness of where
they are supposed to be invariably choose the wrong couple for the next move.
For this dance, after the neighbor swing, I would tell the dancers to identify
their shadow, then the couple to the right of that for who to do the diagonal
right and left through with. The dancers will still be the zigzag formation
after the R&L through. I'd ask them to identify the couple that did not
include their partner to star with.
I would like some feedback as to whether that's a good way to talk about
position, or if there's a better/simpler way to teach that
