Hi,

I would like to increase the reliability of a fax sending/receiving station
and I'm exploring the ability of callweaver to let me get that.
The principle is the following (at both sides):
PSTN<-->Adapter<-->SpanDSP<-->T38<-->IPBridge<-->internet
or as a backup way in case of failure
IPBridge<-->PPP<-->modem<-->Telephony network<-->to another Callweaver
station
To validate this principle, I have several questions :
1) On the wikis, I read T38 is a real-time protocol for sending fax, but in
the examples I saw that the SpanDSP module needs a file where to store the
fax that is to be sent. So does it means that the working way is first
terminating the fax exchange with the fax machine and once it is completed,
through the T38 module sending it to the network. Or, is it possible to
send what is acquired by SpanDSP on the fly to the T38 module which is
forwarding it directly to the IP world.

2) The hardware I'm planned to use is the TDM400P form Digium, there are 4
channels. One will be used to be connected to the fax machine and another
one to the PTSN public network. Are there modems available in Callweaver
(perhaps SpanDSP itself) that can be used for the PTSN connection and are
they supporting a PPP connection.

3) When outside the T38 module, how can I get the IP frames available for
bridging in our case?

4) is there potential speed problems at the PPP interface considering that
there are not only the fax data in the flow but also "signalling" data?

Thanks for reading me,

MosomeX
