“Practice What You Preach.” It was a headline writer’s dream. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York (the two top prelates of the Anglican Communion) were the keynote speakers in London, last week, at the annual dinner of The Worshipful Company of International Bankers (no kidding). They had been asked to address the topic of the world’s financial crisis.
The AB of York, John Sentamu, decried an “Alice In Wonderland” market in which the share price of banks were not valued on performance, but on how willing the government might be to buy them out. Sentamu labeled those who profited from selling short “bank robbers” and “asset strippers.” IN CAMBODIA OCCUPIED BY VIETNAM ? "Mr. Secretary-General, there are new hopes for Cambodia, a nation whose freedom and independence we seek just as avidly as we sought the freedom and independence of Afghanistan. We urge the rapid removal of all Vietnamese troops ...." As of today, Cambodia is still occupied by the Vietnamese troops despite the call from the US president to Vietnam to cease her occupation of Cambodia since 1988. Cambodia needs Independence from Vietnam and the Vietnamese invaders. --- On Tue, 9/30/08, Ông-thu N <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: From: Ông-thu N <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: U.S. Economy Progressing to Worse Recession and Inflation. To: [EMAIL PROTECTED], [email protected], [EMAIL PROTECTED], "CAMBODIAN VETERANS" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Tuesday, September 30, 2008, 1:50 AM Everyone keeps asking, “Are we in a recession?” but few actually state the answer. The media and our U.S. leaders just keep dancing around the issue. But look at the facts: the last year home prices fell the way they are today was 1941 -- the year the United States entered World War II. Unscrupulous, predatory lenders and the creation of the subprime market have created a downward spiral that threatens to swallow many Americans whole. Entire U.S. cities are being devastated by the predatory lending practices facilitated by Wall Street. It is no longer just inner cities or low-income families being affected. Everyone, from the poor to the wealthy, is being hit by this crisis. Many U..S. economists are convinced that a recession is inevitable, as the mortgage crisis is FAR from having peaked. In fact, it is still in its infancy. And in this interview, Jim Rogers, the CEO of Rogers Holdings, explains how current government policies will cause even greater inflation and a massive recession. I agree with Rogers, most likely the situation will get far worse before it gets better. If you still believe that the dollar is strong and the United States is destined to be an eternal superpower, think again. After watching this video, and the must-see videos in the related articles below, I’m sure you’ll have a far more realistic view of the U.S. situation. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Cambodia Discussion (CAMDISC) - www.cambodia.org" group.
