Greetings all-

*YES WE DID! *364 electoral votes, 94 above the necessary 270 to win in what
is considered to be an electoral landslide, with no fewer than nine formerly
red states turning blue in this election: Florida, North Carolina, Virginia,
Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico, with Missouri still in
the balance. It was, indeed, a serious redrawing of the electoral map. With
the exception of Iowa, we phone banked into every one of the battleground
states, with a large concentration of our calling going into Nevada back in
September, into New Mexico for several weeks in October and finally into
North Carolina, Indiana, Missouri and the rest during the last days of GOTV.
It was a phenomenal effort on the part of a huge number of volunteers across
the country.

Our office certainly did its part, *making close to a quarter of a million
calls in the last four days of GOTV, while our Northern California region
did over a half million calls during that same period!* Pretty incredible
numbers. One of many indelibly inscribed memories I will retain for a long
time is that of our office being filled to capacity with phone bankers, with
another long row of seated volunteers calling both out in front of our strip
mall, as well as in the back alley behind our office, sometimes in the rain.
In addition, invisible to most, we had no less than five satellite locations
filled to capacity at times, including Happy Donuts next door, the second
floor of Celia's Restaurant down the street and several residences in the
neighborhood generously donated by local supporters. Pretty incredible
stuff! Our office played an instrumental part, through both its massive
phone bank operation and its steady stream of travel teams which saturated
both Nevada and later Colorado, in turning those states blue as we won New
Mexico by nearly 15 percentage points, Nevada by more than 12 and Colorado
by more than 8, decisive victories in all three for a total of 19 electoral
votes! A huge thank you and congratulatory salute to all of you who can now
proudly say that you participated in this historic grass roots campaign,
making you rightful owners of a piece of our democracy.

Most volunteers in our campaign with whom I have talked are still in a state
of euphoria, and are also suffering some withdrawal symptoms after almost
two years of this protracted battle both in the primaries and in the general
election cycle. (For a little comic relief, check out this humorous video by

think we need to take time to absorb and to appreciate what has transpired
before beginning to consider next steps. It has been suggested that we have
some sort of culminating gathering outside in one of our local parks, to
celebrate our hard-fought victory. Stay tuned for further developments on
this idea. Meanwhile, enjoy this version of "Here Comes the Sun,"
popularized many years ago by the incomparable Richie Havens, as we
celebrate the retaking of our democracy and the dawning of a new day:
