Date: Monday, December 29, 2008, 7:55 PM Dear Members of the Cambodian American Resource Agency, The Pan Asian Council of the University of Connecticut's Asian American Cultural Center (AsACC) is pleased to announce it is hosting a special cultural and fundraising event showcasing fashions, traditions and food from the Asian continent. On Friday February 13th 2009, the group will host Styles of Asia at the University of Connecticut's Rome Commons Ballroom, at the Storrs Campus. This special event is being organized for persons of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy an evening dedicated to showcasing the richly diverse cultures of Asia, while also raising money for three causes, all 501(C)(3) non-profit organizations: 1. Sichuan, China Quake Relief – for the rebuilding of the region in the aftermath of a 7.9 magnitude earthquake that devastated the area this past May: http://www.ctef.org/index.asp 2. Landmine Relief and related accident prevention in Cambodia: http://www.maginternational.org/usa 3. D.F. School for Blind Children in India: http://www.starfishchildrensfund.org This evening highlighting the richly diverse cultures of Asia includes: · Runway Fashion Show – with over 100 models showcasing apparel and music from East Asia, South-East Asia and Southern Asia. · Cultural Exhibits – Set up as a "Mini-EPCOT" area, with a myriad of exhibits, each representing a different Asian country. · Cuisine – featuring delectable foods from the Continent. The admission fee is $2.00. Per the attached information and donor form, we are currently looking for sponsors and volunteers to help with cultural exhibits and to help promote the event.
