I worked in Cambodia for four years.

I was working in a Library, and I doubt the director of the library's
salary was $100 a month. IT graduates in private companies I dealt with
would have been on around 50-75 per month.

I was alway hearing about NGO workers earning fortunes and staying
expensive hotels. Never met any. Most NGO people I knew had left better
paying jobs in their home countries to work in Cambodia. The salary is
good by Cambodian standards though, but nothing like the stories in the
papers.

There were consultants being payed big money by the IMF or World Bank -
generally speaking on short term contracts. But these were the exceptions.

If you are looking for a way to help, I would suggest finding an
organization doing something worthwhile and support them. Pepy ride,
Room to Read, Open Institute etc. Personally, I'd favour someone more
than a days drive from Seim Reap or Phnom Penh ... but they can be hard
to find.
