SRP MP Yont Tharo's son shot dead in Phnom Penh
08/10/2009
DPA
Phnom Penh - The son of an opposition parliamentarian was shot dead late
Sunday in the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. Yont Thauron, 25, the son of
Yont Tharo, a member of parliament for the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP), was shot
while returning from a wedding after the vehicle in which he was travelling
was involved in a minor traffic accident.
Veteran SRP politician Son Chhay said the party is concerned the killing
could have a political dimension.
"In the past, opposition members have been easy targets for (criminal
acts)," he said.
But the city's police chief, Touch Narath, flatly rejected any suggestion
of political overtones.
Touch Narath told the German Press Agency

Yes, a son of SRP MP was killed last night in Phnom Penh because of the
traffic dispute, but SRP machine will politicise it as political motivate. It
is obvious business of SRP whenever any member of SRP die.
