Oct. 21, 1986 The UN General Assembly adopted a resolution A/RES/41/6, by vote of 116-21 with 13 abstentions, calling for a withdrawal of Vietnamese forces from Cambodia. As of today,Cambodia is still occupied by the Vietnamese troops despite the call from the US president to Vietnam to cease her occupation of Cambodia since 1988. Cambodia needs Independence from Vietnam and the Vietnamese invaders. Vietnam must cease her occupation of Cambodia at once. BURY ================================================================ AKP/05 Leading Scholars and Former Ambassadors to Gather for 60th Anniversary Symposium Phnom Penh, July 19, 2010 AKP -- The U.S. Embassy will host an academic symposium on the past, present and future of the U.S.-Cambodian relationship at Chaktomuk Hall in Phnom Penh on July 21-22. This historic symposium, an unprecedented gathering of leading international scholars and former U.S. and Cambodian ambassadors, is being held as part of celebrations this week to mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries, said a press release of the U.S. Embassy in Phnom Penh dated today. Speakers will include historians David Chandler and Kenton Clymer; linguist Franklin Huffman; former U.S. Ambassadors to Cambodia Kent Wiedemann, Charles Ray and Joseph Mussomeli; former Cambodian Ambassador to the United States H.E. Ek Sereywath; and H.R.H. Samdech Norodom Sirivudh, member of the Constitutional Council of Cambodia, it pointed out. U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia Carol A. Rodley and Deputy Prime Minister Sok An will provide opening remarks at the event. The symposium will feature panel discussions and Q&A sessions. In addition to providing an historical overview of the 60-year relationship, the event will include sessions on the role of the United States in the democratic development and reconstruction of post-UNTAC Cambodia, and educational and cultural exchanges between the two countries. Additional information on specific sessions is available on the U.S. Embassy’s website at cambodia.usembassy.gov. This event is one of many being held throughout the week to commemorate the 60th anniversary of U.S.-Cambodian diplomatic relations. The events are designed to highlight the shared history between the United States and Cambodia and the many ways in which the two countries are working together.
