Sen. Stevens, Rep. Rostenkowski Remembered; 76 Years in Congress Between
ThemToday

Alaska Senator Ted Stevens (R) will lie in repose in his home state of Alaska
today, with a viewing and procession taking place at All Saints Episcopal
Church in Anchorage. He died August 9 in the crash of a small plane in
southwestern Alaska. He was 86.

Vice President Joe Biden is scheduled to be among the expected 4,500 attendees
at a funeral service for the late senator Wednesday afternoon.

Stevens was the longest-serving Republican senator in U.S. history, serving in
the Senate from December 24, 1968, to January 3, 2009, and as President pro
tempore from 2003 to 2007. While in the Senate, Stevens secured billions of
federal dollars for his home state. He lost reelection in 2008 to Sen. Mark
Begich (D-AK) following a corruption conviction that was later dismissed.

Also today, a funeral service will be held for former Illinois Rep. Dan
Rostenkowski (D) at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church on Chicago's North Side. He
died last week at his home in Powers Lake, WI, after battling lung cancer for
several years. He was 82.

Rostenkowski served 18 terms in the House, from 1959 to 1995. During that time,
he served as chairman of the Ways and Means Committee for 13 years.

The congressman’s political career ended in 1992 when he was indicted and
charged with misusing government and campaign funds. Four years later, he
pleaded guilty to two counts of mail fraud and served 15 months in prison.
Despite his imprisonment, he maintained his innocence and was later pardoned by
President Bill Clinton in 2000.

Subject: 8-17-2010 THE 111TH US CONGRESS IN TROUBLE :Sen.Carl Levin hit with
pie at Big Rapids event
Date: Tue, 17 Aug 2010 09:05:41 -0700

The chairman of the Senate Armed Services committee.

Sen. Carl Levin was in the middle of taking questions during a visit to a
Michigan cafe on Monday when a Michigan State University senior threw a pie at
him, according to The Big Rapids Pioneer.

The pie successfully hit the chairman of the Senate Armed Services committee.

Someone who "throws something at somebody or hits somebody with something
doesn't understand the blessings of America," Levin said, as he wiped the pie
from his face. According to the paper, Levin also said that we are blessed to
live in a country where one has the right to free speech, but that kind of
violence wasn't acceptable.
The pie-throwing incident came moments after another student delivered a
mini-speech blaming Levin for his stance on foreign policy issues, including
"Israel war crimes against the Palestinian people. "
The student who threw the pie, Ahlam Mohsen, explained his actions to the
newspaper thusly: "We wanted to target Levin today to send a message that
liberals and Democrats are just as implicated in the violence as the
Republicans.”
Mohsen, 23, was later arrested.

Will Quantitative Easing By The Federal Reserve Unleash Economic Hell?

Most of the folks populating Congress are so incompetent that they should not
even be hired to mop the floors of a Dairy Queen.
But the truth is that it was seen as far back as 1835. In his article for
CNN, Keith R. McCullough included a very appropriate quote by

Alexis De Tocqueville, the author of Democracy in America….
“The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can
bribe the public with the public’s money.”
Today, approximately 57% of the U.S. government budget is spent on direct
payments to American citizens or is money that is spent on behalf of individual
American citizens.

For those not familiar with quantitative easing, Wikipedia has a pretty good
definition….
The term quantitative easing (QE) describes a form of monetary policy used by
central banks to increase the supply of money in an economy when the bank
interest rate, discount rate and/or interbank interest rate are either at, or
close to, zero.[citation needed] A central bank does this by first crediting
its own account with money it has created ex nihilo (“out of nothing”).[1] It
then purchases financial assets, including government bonds, mortgage-backed
securities and corporate bonds, from banks and other financial institutions in
a process referred to as open market operations.
But is it really a good idea for a privately-owned central bank to have the
power to create money out of nothing and to do whatever it wants with it
outside of U.S. government control?
Of course not, but we dealt with those issues in another article.

And that is the crux of the problem – the U.S. government has a debt that is
absolutely spiralling out of control. This is a problem that has been building
for decades and there simply is no quick fix for it.

Watchdog panel cites global impact of US bailout

By MARCY GORDON
WASHINGTON (AP) - The $700 billion U.S. bailout program launched in response
to the global economic meltdown had a far greater impact overseas than other
countries' financial rescue plans did on the U.S., according to a new report
from a congressional watchdog. Billions of dollars in U.S. rescue funds wound
up in big banks in France, Germany and other nations. That was probably
inevitable because of the structure of the Treasury Department's program, the
Congressional Oversight Panel says in a new report issued Thursday.

THE 111TH US CONGRESS IN TROUBLE:
CORRUPTION ! INCOMPETENCE, ARROGANCE, IGNORANCE AMONG MEMBERS SUCH AS
SENATORS CHRIS DODD, CARL LEVIN, CHARLES SHUMER , BERNIE FRANK ETC.... RESULTED
IN THIS ?
But now we are starting to pay the price.
The truth is that the U.S. government has become an expert on wasting money.
Most of the folks populating Congress are so incompetent that they should not
even be hired to mop the floors of a Dairy Queen, and yet they control how
trillions of our tax dollars are spent.
The end result is that we have a financial mess that is absolutely
unprecedented.

But the truth is that it was seen as far back as 1835. In his article for CNN,

For decades, the “Congress critters” have been bribing the American people (and
each other) with massive payouts and have been getting away with it.

As of today,Cambodia is still occupied by the Vietnamese troops despite the
call from the US president to Vietnam to cease her occupation of Cambodia since
1988.

Cambodia needs Independence from Vietnam and the Vietnamese invaders.

Vietnam must cease her occupation of Cambodia at once.
