When Siam sieged and sacked Angkor city of 1400's Khmer
manderins including military chiefs and Buddhist monks were betrayal
their own country by allowing Siamese troupes to enter the city and
sacked. Thank to King Ponhea Yat to liberate the kingdom from Siam.
When the Black Prince of Siam (Narensuon ) deployed a massive
troupes to storm Long Vek of 1500's, khmer governors of Province
Boribaur and Battambang were siding with Siam. The great city of Khmer
Kingdom Long Vek was completely destroyed. Thai learned from Burma
when Ayudhia was sacked, the entire city was burned to the ashes. All
khmer royal families were taken hostage to Ayudhia including famous
king Chey Chetha II.
On 1800's French came to colonize the kingdom and re-
establishing numerous institutions such as Monarchy, Buddhism and
Nationhood . The kingdom was protected from annexation of Siam and
Viet.Without French there would be no country called Cambodia as
today, it would have been Than Tray from the East and Bouripha
(Eastern) from Krung Thep Mahanokhorn. In 1953 the Kingdom became
independent in the mid of tension of cold war until 1970 the kingdom
became of war zone, one side supported by Communist and other side
supported by capitalist . Aftermath, Khmer started to kill their own
people without reason (Khmer Rouge ). Finally the country is belonged
to other people, khmers suffered and scattered around the world. The
question is who we are ? Where were we descending from ? Today, the
birth and the rise of newly aristocrat families replacing the old one
controlled and run the country, it seems majority of Khmer in the
country are happy to live that way.
