Dear Bawng Solang:

I had an interview with Lok Om Sokham Khoy.
He gave me the documents (attached); la bataille de Srè Chés et Srè Pork
entre le 16 Juillet 1954 et 22 Juillet 1954 à Srè Chés sous le commandement
de Col. Sau Kam Khoy de l'Armée Royale Khmère which he commended le
Bataillon de Parachutis, le 6ème B.C.C et Bataillon de Kg. Thom. Col. Sau
Kam Koy defeated de l'NVA and Viet Minh à Srè Chés le 16 Juillet 1954, 5
days before la Conférence de Genève le 22 Juillet 1954.

I believe the attached document could well be construed as a valuable
historical document during the period when Cambodia was struggling to be
independent from France. Lok Om Khoy had passed away a few years ago.

Warmest regards,

/Perom

Dear Pa'auon Perom,

Many thanks for circulating the valuable 'document du Colonel (later
General) Sau Kham Khoy'. It is an important document of great historical
value for Cambodia. Many historians and journalists in the West are either
not aware of (or intentionally choose to ignore) the many developments and
intentions of our neighbour to the east on Cambodia. If I remember
correctly, there was a FARK commemorative medal awarded to the Khmer
combatants of Srè Chés. That time our FARK was on par with the V.M.

Best regards,
Solang

Dear Perom,

I think, the battle of Srè Ches was in 1953. One of my brother in law, at
that time lieutenant parachutist Keo Sangwath was with Colonel Sokham Khoy.
Later on, in 1962, Commandant Sangwath was killed in Odor Mean Chey; his
Jeep ran over a Khmer Serey ‘s mine. If my recollection is still good, the
Geneva Conference granted Independence to Cambodia in November 1953.
